The Developing Room is a safe space for young and emerging filmmakers to learn their craft.
Established in July 2021, The Developing Room was created as a UK-wide creative network to celebrate, support, and finance young & emerging filmmakers. We are committed to helping talented up-and-coming creatives learn, grow, and mature as artists. It is the community-orientated offshoot of Developing Room Films and dedicated to helping as many talented and passionate filmmakers break into the industry as possible.

In just three short years, The Developing Room has helped finance 3 feature films and 6 short films, created ground-breaking masterclasses and workshops, shared invaluable resources, and helped to connect thousands of filmmakers across the UK. Our films have played at over 30 different festivals, including BAFTA, BIFA, and Academy Award accredited festivals such as Raindance Film Festival, Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, and Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival.

With every single The Developing Room project, we strive to ensure that at least 25% of our casts and crews are made up of industry newcomers. In fact, across 2021 and 2022, 45% of the casts & crews employed on the company's various short film projects were first-time filmmakers. And 100% of our films have been directed by 18-25 year olds!

Together we can make the film industry a more inclusive and accessible place for everyone.
